At Rockphonix we encourage a relaxed, informal teaching approach. Each guitar teacher will work with their students to create lesson plans and structured learning based around the goals and aspirations of the student.

Our guitar students are a mix of ages from six years old to 65+. We always aim to keep lessons engaging and targeted at the individual and their learning objectives. For younger students, parents are welcome to sit in on the sessions, sometimes this can help students settle in the first few lessons.

Our guitar lessons will help with: -

  • Fundamental Techniques; the correct skills are essential for playing the guitar well and also avoiding injury. We will emphasise proper hand placement, posture, strumming patterns, plucking methods, and other aspects.
  • Advanced Techniques; as you become more accomplished we can teach new ways to enrich your playing such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, vibrato, palm muting and fingerstyle.
  • Structured Learning; our lessons progress students from the fundamentals to more advanced methods. This guarantees a firm foundation, avoiding typical blunders and bad habits that could hinder progression later on.
  • Expert Guidance; having an good guitar teacher can make or break your learning journey. Our tutors will identify areas of weakness and provide personalised critical feedback to help you develop. They can also provide insights into the complexities of playing, offering useful tips and strategies that can be difficult to acquire on your own.
  • Expressive Playing; you'll learn how to express yourself via music by instilling emotions in your performance.
  • Accountability and Motivation; regular guitar lessons can create a sense of accountability, motivating you to practise on a regular basis.
  • Learning Music Theory; musical theory is not always front of mind for guitar players however gaining even a fundamental understanding will bring significant reward. Learning about keys, scales, chord structure, progressions and music notation allows you to confidently decipher tunes, produce music, and improvise.
  • Building Confidence; your confidence as a musician will build as you continue through guitar lessons and observe improvements in your skills. Performing in front of your teacher or in group lessons can also help you overcome stage fear and gain confidence in sharing your music with others.
